The Expanse

With no cable, we're watching things we can stream on the TV.  Our current fave is The Expanse, an Amazon Original.  We've binged watched Seasons 1 through 3 in about 7 days and are now in Season 4.  It's a really great show - if you can get it, it's well worth the time.  It's complex, intense but fascinating.  I didn't realize it was based on a book and when I checked Amazon, it's actually a few books.  I'm going to try to head to the library to see if I can find them - getting a new library card is always a fun thing to do when you've moved somewhere new.

We're planning to be at Atlantis for three nights for New Years.  I was there today for a free play event  - my casino host found me and said she was glad we were going to be there.  Another friend was playing and he told me it's the best event Atlantis does - he said it's incredibly beautiful and a lot of fun.  And - a great thing - we live close enough to decide to head home for 1/2 a day - to spend time at home, check on the cats and then head back.  We'll see how it goes.  Three nights feels like a long time but...there's another special event most of New Years Day which makes staying there the third night the best option.  J. may head home that day - we have complete flexibility -

The new house has blue paper on the roof which is one of the final steps needed before they can shingle it.  Once the blue paper is on, the house is watertight - and then they can do more inside work.  We got pricing for some additional cabinets we added - in our 'flex room' (office) and the sides of the heatilator (fireplace) and that added $9K to our price.  We're going to check on that because it seems way out of whack with the total cost of all the other cabinetry in the house.

We cancelled the Mediterranean cruise officially - we've known for a long time we weren't going to make the trip.  We're still planning on Alaska and are working on deciding excursions.  I'm pretty 'no' on anything involving a plane or a helicopter - mostly the expense.  But also just don't want to do excursions that involve air travel.

There hasn't been snow in weeks which is nice - but it is very cold here.  Most mornings are in the low 20's and it gradually warms up to the 40's by noon.  It's an adjustment.  We've added a tower space heater from storage to the living room - the central heating takes a bit to warm the room and having the extra heater makes mornings easier.  It's still absolutely beautiful.  Crystal clear skies with beautiful clouds; hills covered with glistening snow surround us.  It's very pretty.

2020 is going to be a wonderful year - we have so much to look forward to.
